The marketing ‘team’ in your organisation may just be you. For others it may be whichever staff member has time to post something on social media. Others use web designers, graphic designers or external agencies to look after most of their promotional marketing needs.
One thing all of the above have in common is this —if you let me oversee what they are doing, the results will be better.
I can be very flexible in the assistance I can give. Below are a few examples of how I currently help client’s teams. I could help you in very similar ways.
-
Some clients simply like to have me 'on call' for any queries or problems they may have.
My lifestyle is built around flexibility. I work from home, and can be available at short notice to answer any queries, offer assistance, or simply act as a knowledgeable sounding board, if and when that’s useful.
-
I can help you (or your staff) develop a proper strategic marketing plan or offer ad-hoc strategic guidance.
You can then use this as a guide to carry out much of the required work yourself.
-
I can train your marketing staff.
No matter how experienced or qualified your marketing staff are, it’s amazing what a fresh pair of eyes can see. I’ve never looked at a businesses marketing, and not been able to spot ways in which improvements could be made.
From self employed tradesmen, to Marketing Managers with Marketing degrees (Undergrad and Post Grad), I’ve always been able to spot opportunities they have missed, or ways in which improvements could be made.
-
I can train staff in non marketing roles to support the marketing strategy of the business.
Ironically, (and quite possibly paradoxically) in some industries, the best results come from training ‘non-marketing’ staff. The very best example I’ve ever seen is family run jewellers, but there are many others.
If you have staff in any customer facing roles, you should definitely get in touch. I could transform your income by training these staff.
-
I can write instructions and templates for staff to use.
Most commonly, I write a social media posting guide for everyone to follow. Anyone who reads this is immediately better informed on the subject than the majority of so called social media ‘experts’.
-
I can appraise proposals from other marketing professionals.
I can tell very quickly if proposed work by another marketing professional is going to be useful, usually with a quick glance at what they are proposing to do.
Long gone are the days when we used to pay a lot of money for technical skills like web design. Promotional tools like adverts, websites and radio ads are simply a way in which we deliver our carefully tailored message to the eyes or ears of the target audience. Such things succeed or fail with the strategic planning behind them, not whether or not you use an expensive designer to put them together.
